So one day after working like a 22 hour shift, Matt got a ride part way home from a co-worker. (We didn't have a vehicle) He dropped him off at Crispy Cream Donuts, and Matt started to walk home. (Of course he stopped first to get himself some donuts) So there he is, wearing his dirty work clothes, carrying a hard hat and a box of donuts. He walks past this car dealership who happens to be hosting a sports talk radio show that day. (who also happens to be Matt's favorite) He gets excited and decides to go in and tell them how much he loves them. He swings open the door, just as they are on the air doing a commercial for a Sub sandwich shop. Just as he walks in with donuts and hard hat in hand, and a huge black smile on his scruffy bearded face, one of the men looked toward the door. "Come on down and try one of these -needs a clean shower!" He says. The second man, taken aback then looks at the first man. Short pause.
"I don't know where that came from," the first man says as he quickly flips his eyes toward Matt. "I meant come try these subs they're great." Matt, realizing that he was the one who had distracted the commercial, slunk backward out the door. He laughed about it later, but was sure that after he left, they talked about him on the air. I wish you could hear the way Matt tells the story. We were rolling with laughter. He never imagined that he would get his 5 minutes of fame that way.
