My Hero...The Cowboy Dinosaur Slayer!

Kimball is such a fearless and funny kid! He loves to play rough with the big boys, and is constantly tackling and wrestling with Joseph's friends. He is always showing me "tricky tricks" and if he falls and catches himself with one hand he tries to make it look like he meant to do it. Then he will try to do it again, and again, and thinks it makes him look cool.

When he dresses himself he always puts on two or three layers of each article of clothing, he wears his pants backward, cowboy boots are never on the right feet, and his outfit is never complete without my kitchen towel as his cape!

He is so chivalrous to the little girl next door. He shares his food and toys, protects her from her older brother, and is sincerely concerned when she's crying. He says that when he grows up he wants to marry "Wucy" (Lucy- the little girl) Even her mom can't believe how kind and gentle he is to her...and then he turns around and tackles someone else. Ever since the time he began to toddle, he would go down on one knee and shoot his finger like a gun. When he just started putting words and sentences together, he told me that when he grew up he wanted to "be a pirate and protect (mom) from dinosaurs".

He never tires of riding his bike back and forth in the front yard for hours on end, smiling the whole time! He's always disappointed when it's time to come in...but he thanks me for letting him play outside anyway. He is known around the neighborhood as the little redheaded cowboy, who sneaks sticks into church-pretending they are his guns, wearing his boots, and his cowboy vest. He calls himself "SUPER COWBOY" and wants to save the world!

The funny thing is, as I look back and remember when I was pregnant with him and wondering how I could manage another child, I realize now that he had to come at this time. I needed him to come to save ME! Not just from dinosaurs or big mean spiders, but from the world. He teaches me so much about love and serving. He looks at me randomly and tells me how much he loves me, he thanks me, and he will come running into the kitchen just to jump into my arms to hug and hold me. He tries to do the dishes for me as a surprise, and works hard at whatever he is asked, or sometimes not asked to do. He is such a joy and blessing to me, and I find that no matter what happens, I know he will be there for all of us to rely on! He has always been, and always will be our Hero...our Mighty Super Pirate Cowboy Dinosaur Slayer!
