For Father's Day we went up to This is the Place Park and walked around. It is so peaceful and relaxing up there. All of the buildings weren't open, but the horses, pigs and baby chickens and ducks greeted us so warmly. There was one baby chick that we had a soft spot for. We named him "Pecky", because all of his feathers around his head and neck had been pecked almost completely off. We put our hands out and he came running up and almost right into our hands. Joseph named the other one "Cuddly" because he just wanted to be held and petted. It has been a great experience working up there, and every time the trek kids come down the road and they play that music and we clap and cheer and wave our white hankies, it chokes me up. I have had more appreciation for what the pioneers did, now, more than ever before. We have always had the tradition to give Matt a "Daddy Book" on Father's Day, but this year I decided to create our own. We each picked our favorite memory with Matt and the kids wrote about it and drew pictures. We decided to add a new memory each year, making our own "daddy book". Hopefully as they get older, each memory will get more meaningful and thought through. They love this book and keep looking through it over and over again, showing anyone who comes over. I couldn't ask for a better Father for my kids. We all love him so much! He is the hardest worker I have ever met, and would give up anything for his family (literally).
