The kids had a fabulous time playing hide and seek in Goblin Valley and hiking the narrows of Wild horse canyon. At one point at camp, I heard a voice calling me from across the way. I up to see Matt lifting Rebecca and Joseph onto a ledge of the mountain across from us. I was shocked! Then all of a sudden Kimball comes running at full speed toward them. I had to run to catch him, and when I did he started wiggling and pushing, trying to get away. "Mom Stop!" He yelled. "Joseph needs help!" He is always the first to protect or lend a helping hand. This trip I learned a lot about my children. I learned even more how sensitive, loving and a peacemaker Joseph is. I learned how responsible and dependable Elena is, and I learned how bright, observant and inquisitive Becca is. Trips like this just remind me how grateful I am for them. They each have such a piece to our family puzzle and I couldn't have asked for anyone that would have fit better. They each play such an important part, each one so different, yet so needed in their own sphere! The hike was fabulous! It was one of the best hikes that we have ever been on! We could have played in Goblin Valley for hours on end! At first Joseph wasn't sure he wanted to go see "rocks", but afterward he was saying "You were right mom! It was cool! I loved it! That was so much fun!" I almost think that they had more fun hiking and playing in Goblin Valley, than when they went to Disneyland. They didn't even complain about our 5-6 mile hike with only granola bars and fruit roll-ups to eat all day! Who knew dirt and rocks could be so thrilling! When we got home, we had a contest to see who had left the most dirt in the bottom of the tub. I think the girls were at a tie, but Joseph was a close second.
