Kimball has "Teddy" his best friend and comrade. I do the voice, but each time he lies down for a nap or for bedtime, he pours his heart out to "Teddy". He even cried once when he thought that Teddy was left out. I think I have learned more about and have reached Tao's heart much more by talking to him through this bear than by myself. Then one day Teddy was gone. He was gone for 3 days and Tao worried about him. Then one morning Tao came into the kitchen doing a voice saying "Hi mom, I'm back! and guess what, it's my birthday!" (while holding Teddy) Surprisingly Matt had made a cake in the middle of the night and was sitting on the counter waiting to be frosted. I sliced two teeny tiny little pieces, put on green sprinkles and lit a candle. When Rebecca saw what was going on, she insisted that it was Clifford's birthday too, so the former action was repeated. They were still distraught. They needed presents, for what is a Birthday without a present? So we spent the next few hours making cereal necklaces, headbands, and bracelets, neglecting the chores and celebrating Clifford's and Teddy's great entrances into this family.
